Welcome to NISS

In each of the advanced countries of the world there are several institutions where intellectuals who are able and willing to continue with intellectual work could be together to advance knowledge collectively and individually. These institutions are the bed-rock on which the further advancement of the advanced countries are based. Such institutions, to mention only a handful, are the colleges of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge (United Kingdom), the Nasser Academy (Egypt), the Max Planck Institute (Germany), the Tata Institute (India), and the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, United States of America). Some of these institutions are attached to universities, some are not. The only Nigerian institution near any of the above is the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies, which is attached to the University of Lagos. Nigeria needs at least one such institution for studies in the sciences, on which technology and modern progress are based. The Nanna Institute for Scientific Studies was founded to fulfil this need.
